Hi all!
I guess I'll start by dropping all the mockup pages I've made so far, here as reference from which to expand/refine with you fine people.
Homepage:
sindarinlibrary.com/
Well, this page is just a static image. But the idea I had was to make the homepage a site-search that would search all entries for words (either in Sindarin or English). This could make it easier to find an instance of a word in the right context. From a psychological pov, I figured the most important things were:
- Search Specific Words
- Search All Existing Entries
- Search Recent
Library Page:
sindarinlibrary.com/library.html
So this is the heart of the site. This will have all author's entries (I just have some mockup titles here for now). Any registered author of the site can add to this list, and when you do, the entries will look something like:
"The Hobbit" Entry Page:
sindarinlibrary.com/hobbit-demo.html
This is the main user interface. There are a few features missing from this mockup, like IPA pronunciation, a click-to-listen option, and I was also debating a column for its display in Tengwar (or whichever alphabet the respective language uses). What are your thoughts?
Add New Entry Page:
sindarinlibrary.com/entry.html
And this is the back-end, the author's interface, which will essentially work a bit like any post submission to Wordpress or forums, but be just for this. The features I don't have here so far are an option for audio upload (for pronunciation) and IPA.
-------------
OTHER PAGES:
-------------
Register Page
Profile Page
Main Admin Options Page
- Control whether entries appear in morphosyntax abbreviations, or a more longhand/laymen form
- Perhaps control whether to display an Alphabet column on entries?
- Control Database Import/Export
- Control Language: Set of grammar rules for dropdown menus (can also be imported/exported)
- Etc
